Qualifications

Higher education entrance qualification (Abitur certificate)

Entitles you to study all subjects at all German universities, assuming that all other prerequisites for admission (numerus clausus, etc.) have been met.

Intermediate school-leaving qualification

The fulfilment of all requirements necessary to advance to the 11th year also confirms that the pupil has met the requirements for an Intermediate School Certificate (Art. 25 GSO).

This means that by successfully completing the 10th year, the pupil has earned his or her Intermediate School Certificate, which conveys all the rights of the so-called "Mittlere Reife" (GCSE equivalent).
